Buttercup Restaurant in Bay Saint Louis

What a gem of a place! We read the reviews and totally agree with most about how good this place is. It was very busy Monday Memorial Day when we visited but we still got great service. I had about decided on just a muffin and coffee until I saw the pancakes come out. I had to change my mind and I was not disappointed as they were amazing! Skip the chain stores and support the locals!

The restaurant was very understaffed for it being lunch time on a busy street during summer. One waiter had to try and control both inside and outside tables. One person in the kitchen who was cussing loudly and hollering at the waiter to hurry up. My food was wrong twice: once from a kitchen mistake and once from the waiter. After the first time and being given a dirty look from the cook for sending my food back, I didn't even mention the second error. My burger was made completely wrong (according to THEIR menu), and I'm not even sure why I was asked what temp I wanted it cooked. Not that I was given a chance to mention this considering the waiter didn't stop at our table once. He stopped only to bring our food then bring it back when "fixed." Then again, he never stopped, honestly. This place was poorly staffed and kitchen needs to learn to take criticism calmly and professionally.

Stayed in Long Beach on a road trip & Butter Cup was recommended for its breakfast. They had me hooked when I saw a sign that said they didn't discriminate there! Had pancakes the first morning & egg scramble & grits the second morning. Everything was de-li-cious. Both times, a server (young lady with brown hair in a ponytail) gave us recommendations about what to see around the neighboring cities. Seeing her made our not so personable server the 2nd morning tolerable. Thanks for showing us that Bay St Louis is a great place to relocate to.

Ordered a burger to go...mayo & mustard only. 15 minutes later I received a burger with lettuce, tomato & pickles and a tiny package of mustard & mayo for $12.83. kinda wish I had gone to burger king. Would have had it made as asked for 1/3 the price and much faster. Very disappointed. Did not live up to it's hype.

My husband and I stopped in for a late breakfast. He had the Crawfish Omelette and I had the Butter Cup Omelette without peppers, we both had fruit and coffee. The food was great and our server had perfect timing! We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the birds. Highly reccomend stopping in for breakfast or lunch!

Our first visit and it was delicious. Pretty sure this will be our new breakfast place.

Buttercup is always a delight but I enjoy it on Sunday after church. Food is so yummy!

Such a quaint little bistro type restaurant with a homey feel, delicious food and a waitress buying dope in the parking lot.

My wife looked up this place & we really looking forward to having a great breakfast, while we were on vacation. Reviews looked great! We pulled in, parked, & put our name on a wait list (standing room only) & waited. About 10 min later, we were seated at a table on the front porch & given menus. About 5 min after that, a manager (owner?) came up & we were told that our table was reserved for someone else & that we could wait for another table to open. Considering now we had already waited at least 15 minutes, our order could have easily been taken & we could have been served & eaten, just like all of the other customers who were there. NEVER in my life have I been asked to leave a table that I had already waited for so someone else that was either on their way or hadn't arrived yet. That is EXTREMELY poor customer service! The management treated us VERY disrespectfully.

Its a 4 star for the staff but the food doesn't have love or flavor in my opinion. I'd go just for the ambiance

Got side tracked during jeepin the coast and so glad we did. Food is very good and people here, staff and customers, are very nice. We've been back twice in two months, the forty minute Saturday morning drive for breakfast is worth it.

10 years ago I was lucky enough to stumble on Buttercup. I was love struck. The food was great but even better was the sweet kind and gentle soul of this tiny breakfast nook in a little town. A town which had seen so many tough times, and yet, was blessed by this little place.10 years later I expected change. And change it had. Management had passed to his niece. And the the result is this sweet little restaurant got a new coat of tender loving care. And if possible, in a little town which had changed so much, reflected even more charm and grace than it had a decade ago.

Had the Crawfish Omolet and the Buttercup Omolet, pancakes and coffee. Food was delicious, great service, small cozy restaurant.. Almost like visiting a friend for brunch.

One of the few breakfast places open on Mondays. Small inside, so you may want to sit outside and go in the morning when its cooler. General breakfast items and community coffee. Good food but not great.

The go-to spot for breakfast every time I am in the Bay. The owner is actively involved and the absolute nicest person you will ever meet. The food is so good. To be fair I get the crawfish omelette everytime, but my friends love their food when I bring them.

Love the breakfasts here. Just good, down home cooking. Everything cooked to perfection, including the grits. I hate watery and/or under salted grits. It's a very popular place on weekend mornings and can get crowded. But it's worth a wait.

Now this little house has a very hearty breakfast menu and delicious lunch choices. They are locally owned and operated and have a friendly staff. They serve basic local community coffee. (No specialty coffees or frills) Inside seating as well several tables outside under their big ole oak tree and on the front porch. Sweet, friendly atmosphere. Moderately priced. Opened for breakfast and lunch only. It is located right off downtown Main St. where there are locally owned shops of all shapes and sizes.

We had mc n cheese with shrimps for breakfast and it was delicious. We sat at the outdoor seating. Very polite staff.

The food was tasty. The location was wonderful. It's a decent place for casual dining. I gave four stars instead of five because they forgot part of my order and when the waitress realized it and brought out the food, my salad was still incorrect. I ate it and was satisfied, even though it was not what I specified (House salad with Ceasar dressing...not Ceasar salad)😉 My husband's omelette was good.

More on the expensive side. Waffle house is better. For what you pay, you should receive better service and the food should be much better than what it is

Cute place...but waited almost an hour for breakfast...someone finally brought food to our table after I asked if they could check on our order. They brought us the order belonging to the table next to us. We left unfed. 😩

I accidentally found this nice little, quaint, very friendly restaurant while trying to find the local 10k race. They took the time to give me directions and invited me back after the race. The food was fantastic and the best part...breakfast all day. I also appreciated the table setup outside. Had you chosen to sit outside, every seat had a seat cushion and a blanket to keep you warm. The young ladies waiting on the guests worked very well together, made sure all customers were happy, and were constantly cleaning. I will return.
